About Playzenkits

You're Not Alone in This Journey

Children do not always have the words to communicate what they are experiencing. Play can provide a developmentally responsive way to explore experiences, communicate and express what may be difficult to put into words.

Therapeutic and expressive play approaches can support emotional expression, regulation, communication and connection.

Meet Katrina Butler

Katrina Butler has spent over 35 years working with children and families across educational therapy, counseling, and play therapy. Through her practice, The Butterfly Effect, she has supported thousands of neurodiverse and neurotypical children as they navigate emotional and developmental challenges.

Her experience revealed a consistent truth:

Children process emotions best through play — especially structured, therapeutic, evidence-informed play.

This form of play supports emotional regulation, expression, resilience, and deeper healing than words alone can offer.

Why We Created Playzenkits

After decades of working with children, Katrina saw a clear gap in Australia:

Building a useful therapeutic miniature collection can be time-consuming, expensive and surprisingly difficult.

Therapists and practitioners often need to source individual miniatures from multiple suppliers, trying to create enough variety and symbolic choice while also considering quality, durability and therapeutic usefulness.

Many comprehensive collections available overseas also come with high purchase prices, international shipping costs and long delivery times.

Playzenkits was created to offer a simpler alternative: thoughtfully curated therapeutic miniature collections designed from real clinical experience and available here in Australia.

What Makes Playzenkits Different

Every kit is designed from real clinical experience — informed by the needs of children in counselling, educational therapy and play therapy settings. These aren't generic toy bundles; they are professionally curated, evidence-informed therapeutic play resources designed to:

• offer a broad range of symbolic choices for therapeutic and expressive work
• support child-centred, trauma-informed and neuro-affirming practice
• provide carefully selected miniatures without the time involved in sourcing individual pieces
• offer practical Basic and Premium options for different practice needs
• support psychologists, counsellors, play therapists, educational therapists, OTs, social workers and other practitioners

Our Commitment to You

At Playzenkits, we are committed to creating thoughtfully curated, evidence-informed and neuro-affirming therapeutic play resources that support high-quality work with children and young people.

Our collections are designed to give practitioners practical, purposeful and accessible therapeutic tools without the time and difficulty of sourcing individual pieces from multiple suppliers.
